Semester 1 (February to June)

The units for Semester 1, 2009 have now been decided.

Introduction to the Old Testament

The Old Testament is both strangely familiar and totally foreign to most of us. We will explore the major themes of the Old Testament in order to know better the God revealed there.

Christian Discipleship

Christian Discipleship introduces students to contemporary Christian approaches to discipleship. It focuses particularly on the way in which Pentecostal/Charismatic movements have experienced God.

Christian Worldview

What do we believe and how should if affect our lives? Theology is the very practical exercise of ‘faith seeking understanding.’ In this introductory subject we establish the importance of worldview for life, vocation and ministry, as well as setting out the foundations of Christian worldview, based on the broad parameters of the gospel.

Field Training 1: Introduction to Church Ministries

Working within any local church, this unit provides opportunity for exposure to the theory and practice of various church ministries including: the components of Sunday meetings, children’s ministry, youth ministry, small groups, church administration, and counselling.

Field Training 2: Church Leadership

Working within any local church, Church Leadership provides opportunity to participate in specific ministry functions including: leading a prayer meeting, preparing and delivering a message for children and/or youth, worship leading, altar ministry and visitation.

Serious about training for ministry? Serious about Bible study? At Energizer Life Church, we want to prepare people for extraordinary purpose.

In partnership with Southern Cross College, Energizer Life Church is offering the first unit towards a Certificate IV in Ministry. This is our own in house Bible-school - Energizer College. Our aim is to prepare people for effective long-term ministry as church leaders, community leaders and church planters. Southern Cross College is the official training college of the Assemblies of God in Australia.

In mid-July we will be beginning the first unit: “Introduction to the New Testament”. This will cover the historical, literary theological and thematic introduction to the New Testament.

If you want some sound Biblical training and want some to participate in a fully accredited course, this is for you.

For more information, speak to Peter Swift, fill out one of the forms available at the Resource Centre while you are at church, or email the office.

I am looking forward to a great year as Energizer College commences in mid-February. I love the opportunity that Energizer College gives us. Instead of going away to study, we can access excellent teaching and curriculum right here at home. We can study with like-minded people and sharpen our understanding together.

Students can develop their skills and develop and understanding of ministry in a real local environment, which in turn will add to the life of their own local church as they learn.

I encourage you to get involved with Energizer College.
